The Country Neighbor was established in 1995. This former schoolhouse was used as a school from the 1870s until 1957. Today, our schoolhouse restaurant features fine country cooking, a 1950's soda fountain, garden room and porch, restaurant, and gift shop. We also are available for any type of catering job, large or small.

Marcia Vodehnal, owner of Country Neighbor, found a recipe in an antique cookbook for onion dressing, after trying a similar product.

After tweaking the recipe a bit to her liking, she tested it on her employees and customers.

It was a hit!

She has made thousands of gallons of dressing at her restaurant in an Oster blender. Soon customers were requesting to take home a jar of that yummy dressing.

Country Sweet Onion Dressing is a time-tested favorite, sold at the Country Neighbor restaurant in Central Nebraska since 1995.
